Important Message to the Parents of Scouts in Troop 657 WE NEED YOU!  We have several current and future opportunities for you to get involved with.  There are several adult leadership positions available as well as one-time events that need coordinators.  We also need merit badge counselors from our Troop.  If your profession or hobby is related to a merit badge YOU can be a merit badge counselor--for the district or only our Troop.  You will need to fill out an Adult Application form (if you haven't done so already for other positions) and a Merit Badge Counselor application.  These application forms are also in the Library section of this web page for future reference.

June 2008-  June is upon us and many great things are happening!  The fishing campout at Irvine Lake and the Family Gold Camp are the two scheduled outings for the month.  Please check the calendar section for dates and times.

In addition, we have our quarterly Court of Honor on June 16 at the American Legion Hall (7:00 pm).  Come celebrate with the boys as they receive the awards and advancements they have earned.

May 2008-

Troop 657 has our first Eagle Scout!  Cameron Cowan passed his District Eagle Board of Review in April and we are all very proud of him.  Great job Cameron!!  Check this website soon for our new page commemorating Cameron and the other boys from 657 that make this rank in the future.  It will also provide more information on Eagle advancement.

Scout-O-Rama, Scouting's annual trade show, takes place May 17 at Irvine Valley College and is a big favorite among the boys.   Our Troop will have a booth at the event and we are bringing back the popular obstacle course from last year.   For more information please click on the Scout-O-Rama icon on the right........

There are only two (2) Troop meetings this month because of Memorial Day (Monday, 5/26/08). Check the Calendar.

April 2008-  Camp-O-Ree was a blast this month!

We have added a new link in the "Library" section of our website to allow for checking out merit badge books from the troop librarian.  As a reminder, please make your used merit badge books available to the troop's library.

March 2008-  March brings many exciting outings and opportunities.

Join in on the Camporee practice camp out at Firestone from March 14-16.  The boys will learn what events are in store for them during the official Camporee campout held at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos April 4-6. The key to both of these events is teamwork and the boys will be working together for common goals.

March also marks the addition of new Boy Scouts from various area Webolos packs.  If you are a Webolos II scout and are looking for a Boy Scout Troop to join please contact our scoutmaster, Norm Herron, via e-mail now!

PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE: We will have a New Parent meeting on Thursday, March 20, 2008, 7 PM, at the Los Alamitos American Legion Hall.  This is a mandatory meeting for all new parents.

YOU can make a difference in the Troop and in your son's life by getting more involved as an Adult Leader for Troop 657.  Your help is required to make our Troop even more of a success.  If you have any questions on how you can help, please contact our Scoutmaster or any Assistant Scoutmaster.  There are plenty of jobs to go around and some take very little time but are very important.  We need your help....

January/February 2008-    A new and exciting year of Scouts awaits us all!!
