December
2008- Well, the holidays are upon us.
It's hard to believe that another year has gone by!
The only Troop meeting for the month is on Monday,
December 1. Patrol meetings will take place the following
Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 7 pm. And don't miss
the holiday boat cruise in Naples on Monday, December 15 which is in
lieu of our normal Troop meeting.
Come see the Troop 657 float in the Seal Beach Holiday
Parade on Friday, December 5. It should be a lot of fun.
November
2008- Fall is here! Don't miss out on
the Death Valley campout or the Food Bank Service project this
month. Check the calendar for all Troop meeting dates.
October
2008- There are many exciting events this
month including Webelos Woods at Firestone campsite and a campout in
Carlsbad. Check with Mr. Hartman about biking to the Firestone
event...sounds like fun!
We also have a service hours opportunity on October
11th. Please contact Mr. Ramirez for more information.
Our new Senior Patrol Leader takes his post this month.
Come to the Court of Honor on September 29 to find out who the new
elected leader is.
The next Troop Committee Meeting will be
held on October 12 at the Bohlens house @ 6:30 pm.
Orange County Council Shoulder
Patch is in need for an update, all scouts can submit a design for
consideration. The winner will receive a special surprise!
Artwork is due in by October 15, 2008 to Karl Rusmisel-
krusmise@bsamail.org
Merit Badge books have been updated from black and white to color
and are now available at the Scout Shops. Price of the new books are
$4.49 ea. Be sure to donate all used books to our Troop
Librarian, Jamie Blake.
August/September
2008- Can you believe that summer is over?!
Back to school means back to our normal Troop meeting schedule.
We have no meeting, however, on Monday, September 1 in observance of
Labor Day. Check the Calendar section of this web site
for dates on all events.
Summer camp at Emerald Bay in Catalina was a blast!
Any boys that did not get a chance to attend should consider joining
us next year. We'll have information soon on the location for
next year's camp. Stay tuned.....
July
2008- Fourth of July festivities and
we're on our summer schedule for Troop meetings. Only one this
month on July 21-6:30 pm at Rush Park.
Hiking takes center stage with a readiness hike on
Saturday, July 19 at El Moro State Park and a high adventure
backpacking trip to San Gregonio on the weekend of July 25-27.
Also, join in on The Tour de Rossmoor and log all of
your biking miles. Win a leg of the race or the whole event!

June
2008- June is upon us and many great
things are happening! The fishing campout at Irvine Lake and
the Family Gold Camp are the two scheduled outings for the month.
Please check the calendar section for dates and times.
In addition, we have our quarterly Court of Honor on
June 16 at the American Legion Hall (7:00 pm). Come celebrate
with the boys as they receive the awards and advancements they have
earned.
May
2008- 
Troop 657 has our first Eagle Scout! Cameron
Cowan passed his District Eagle Board of Review in April and we are
all very proud of him. Great job Cameron!! Check this
website soon for our new page commemorating Cameron and the other
boys from 657 that make this rank in the future. It will also
provide more information on Eagle advancement.

Scout-O-Rama, Scouting's annual trade show, takes place
May 17 at Irvine Valley College and is a big favorite among the
boys. Our Troop will have a booth at the event and we
are bringing back the popular obstacle course from last year.

There are only two (2) Troop meetings this month because
of Memorial Day (Monday, 5/26/08). Check the
Calendar.
April
2008- Camp-O-Ree was a blast this month!
We have added a new link in the "Library" section of
our website to allow for checking out merit badge books from the
troop librarian. As a reminder, please make your used merit
badge books available to the troop's library.
March
2008- March brings many exciting outings
and opportunities.
Join in on the Camporee practice camp out at Firestone
from March 14-16. The boys will learn what events are in store
for them during the official Camporee campout held at the Joint
Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos April 4-6. The key to both of
these events is teamwork and the boys will be working together for
common goals.
March also marks the addition of new Boy Scouts from
various area Webolos packs. If you are a Webolos II scout and
are looking for a Boy Scout Troop to join please contact our

PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE: We will have a New Parent meeting on
Thursday, March 20, 2008, 7 PM, at
the Los Alamitos American Legion Hall. This is a mandatory
meeting for all new parents.
YOU can make a difference in the Troop and in
your son's life by getting more involved as an Adult Leader for
Troop 657. Your help is required to make our Troop even more
of a success. If you have any questions on how you can help,
please contact our Scoutmaster or any Assistant Scoutmaster.
There are plenty of jobs to go around and some take very little time
but are very important. We need your help....
